Peace,

This album is driven by music & instrumentation from various parts of the world where the mystical version of Islam - known as Sufism - is practiced as a loving & inquiring alternative to the more rigid, dogmatic versions.

Sufis believe in the poetic power of the spirit & use love as a lens to share their wisdom, in the form of cryptic & poignant parables - kinda like rappers...

Their whirling dance is a form of prayer that brings them into harmony with the universe, entranced as they spin up a storm, often accompanied by equally hypnotizing drums...(more parallels)

A Sheikh is a wise older man, and this project borrows the voices of some of my favorite wise men, who's wisdom I consider Sacred, hence the title.

For some lyrical context, the earliest tracks on here were written in the summer of 2017, on my path to rebuilding myself after physical, emotional, spiritual & financial injury. Others were written between 1 & 2 years later, after the necessary work & healing was well underway.

Once again, MUCH LOVE to my partner in musical majesty, the elusive Palmer Eldritch, who provided an incredible set of instrumentals for this album; his relentless work ethic inspires me to be my greatest self.
